The Doctors

Dr. Jim SinningDrs. Cathy and Jim Sinning are the owners and veterinarians of Lake Harriet Veterinary.  Dr. Cathy grew up in Fargo and graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead. Dr. Jim is from Davenport, Iowa, and went to Lawrence University in Appleton, WI. The Sinnings graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University in 1998 and spent 2 years in Portland before moving to Minneapolis. In 2007, they opened Lake Harriet Veterinary to provide the highest quality care in a comfortable neighborhood setting. In keeping with their lifestyle and philosophy, the clinic features environmentally responsible building materials and various considerations to reduce stress and promote wellness for both the patients and their humans.


Dr. Cathy SinningDr. Cathy has a special interest in creating individualized treatment plans that integrate the many complementary modalities in which she has extensive knowledge. She loves to tackle challenging cases by connecting the dots that paint the picture of the whole patient, and treasures the teamwork among everyone involved in caring for her patients.

Dr. Jim’s exceptional skills in surgeries are also evident in his thoroughness and precision in all aspects of patient care. He enjoys helping his clients understand conditions and treatments so that they feel well-equipped to provide care for their pets. Drs. Sinning have 3 cats, 2 kids, and miss their dearly departed dog, Hazel.


Dr. Nicole PalmieriSince July 2008, Dr. Nicole Palmieri has been one of our integrative veterinarians. A 1998 graduate from the University of Wisconsin – Madison Veterinary College, Dr. Nicole brings a wealth of seasoned experience to our clinic. She is an accomplished veterinary acupuncturist with a strong interest in food therapy which helps round out her integrative practice.  Dr. Nicole is a skilled surgeon and especially enjoys treating ferrets. She currently lives within biking distance of the clinic where she shares her home with her husband, canine, feline and ferret friends. Her passions include cooking, travel, craft beer tastings and the outdoors.


Dr. Megan SchommerDr. Megan Schommer is a Twin Cities native and a 2010 graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. She returned to Minnesota after completing a rotating internship in small animal, emergency, and exotic animal medicine in Tucson. Dr. Megan’s special interests include surgery, nutrition, behavior, backyard poultry, and exotic companion mammals from mice to rabbits. She lives in south Minneapolis with her husband and a variety of pets (a corgi, tabby cat, chinchilla, parakeet, and three chickens). Outside the clinic you can find Megan with her pets, biking around the city, camping in the Boundary Waters, or baking.


Dr. Jessy StenrossBorn and raised in Kalamazoo, MI, Dr. Jessy Stenross is a 2011 graduate of Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, she completed a one year small animal medicine and surgery internship at Nashville Veterinary Specialists in Nashville, TN. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, but has a special interest in dermatology, integrative medicine, pain management, internal medicine and the human-animal bond. Dr. Jessy is thrilled to be able to call the Twin Cities her home. She resides in the Uptown neighborhood with her husband, her sheltie mix May, and Charles the cat. Outside of veterinary medicine, her interests include camping, hiking, traveling, gardening, musical theatre, and yoga.


Dr. Jen GallusDr. Jen Gallus is very excited to be joining the staff of LHV! Dr. Jen is a 2012 graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to entering the field of veterinary medicine, she worked as an occupational therapist in metro area hospitals. Dr. Jen enjoys veterinary medicine but especially appreciates the bond she develops with her clients and their special pets.

Dr. Jen loves living in Minneapolis and currently lives in the Diamond Lake area. She shares her home with two entertaining basset hounds, Barkley and Millie, her favorite cat, Chewy, and her equally wonderful husband. In her spare time, Dr. Jen loves biking, running, traveling, reading, and doing pretty much anything outside.


Dr. Carrie DalyDr. Carrie Daly is a 2009 graduate of the University of Minnesota. Originally from North Dakota, she has lived all over the US and the world—including six years practicing veterinary medicine in Hong Kong! Dr. Carrie is particularly interested in emergency medicine, conservation medicine, and feline medicine. And, while she loves critters of all types, she is especially fond of her elderly feline patients.

Dr. Carrie lives in South Minneapolis with her husband, three young children, and 2 worldly cats. When not in the clinic, she enjoys reading, hiking, traveling with her family, running marathons and ultra marathons…and above all else a nice long nap.
